The King is Coming

About five days ago I noticed that the city in which we are currently working started to transform.

National flags were flying in every plaza and along the side walks. The main street where our apartment is was suddenly cleaned up. Curbs and crosswalks were freshly painted in bright white and red. Giant pictures of the king decorated the entire city. It was pretty impressive.

Evidently, on Friday the king himself came to personally oversee a particular project nearby, and everybody wanted the city to be at its best when he came through. They worked hard and did a great job.

Made me think about how we as Christians should be working and making preparations for the day that the King of kings makes his return.

It won’t be long and there and we still have a lot of work to do.

I love the way Oswald J. Smith put it:

“We talk of the Second Coming; half the world has never heard of the first.”

Will He find us busy telling those individuals about Him when He returns, or will we be ashamed to see Him that day?

The King of kings is coming.
